Pocket cigarette case with oval section in gold-plated 925/1000 sterling silver with translucent fired enamel on a guilloché pattern. English Art Nouveau style, early 1900s. Dimensions: 10.2 x 5.8 x 2.3 cm. Silver weight: 206 g. With a lost, i.e. semi-invisible, hinge. Designed by Giorgio Salimbeni in 1973, inspired by previous pieces by the Salimbeni company, and manufactured in Florence by hand by skilled artisans with thick sheet metal and large reinforcements suitable for withstanding numerous enamel firings at high temperatures of approximately 800° C.
It is a new object that has never been used but is considered vintage because it was built more than 20 years ago.
The hallmarks struck to the underside of this fine Salimbeni sterling silver product include:
